Can ASEAN Speaking at the International World?

JAKARTA - The Association of South East Asian Nation (ASEAN) aims to play a more active again in the global community. But until now has not heard an echo of ASEAN is considered tight.
 
Also in accordance with the spirit of the ASEAN Community in a Global Community of Nations, an organization of Southeast Asian countries are considered to be too silent in the face of world problems such as Libya, or the death of Osama bin Laden.
A spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Michael Tene said the issue of Myanmar, ASEAN continues to get the latest news and important developments regarding the condition of Myanmar. 
The most concrete example is the civilian government in Myanmar. Although the current Myanmar government claims held by a democratic government, many claim that the government was a puppet government.

"We continue to hear and give impetus to efforts by Myanmar for the construction of (political) in the country," said Tene Kemenlu Office in Jalan Pejambon, Jakarta, Wednesday (04/05/2011).
Tene insisted, a decision that is in Myanmar itself that determines the future of their government.

Necessary effort to achieve the ASEAN spirit. Foreign Ministry Spokesman Michael Tene assess today the members of ASEAN have a national effort to achieve that spirit. But the ASEAN member countries have the same platform of global spirit.

"Indeed we want to have a bigger ASEAN role in global issues. However, that role can we sinergikan the common platform of ASEAN countries in the global issues of common interest," said Tene.

But according to him, this would not be achieved in the near future. "This will not be achieved now. It is a process that we scroll today. We hope that through the process of the next 10 years, we could could have a common platform of ASEAN countries to address global issues," he said.
